Svalbard, located on Spitsbergen, is known as one of the best locations to see polar bears. Remember to stay alert while looking for these Arctic bears as they likely see you before you see them. Polar bears are not known to attack humans, however visiting groups are required to carry a weapon when moving through polar bear territory, but the bears are also protected by law. Due to these circumstances it is best to simply stay conscious of your surroundings and not endanger yourself or any polar bears while enjoying their home landscape.
